PLAI-NCRLC Library Tour in Bangkok

The Philippines Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) and its National Capital Region Librarians Council (NCRLC) conducted a study visit tour to different libraries, museums and cultural/historical places in Bangkok, Thailand last October 23-26, 2007.

The Objectives of this study tour was:

• to observe the facilities/services/operations of libraries and museums for benchmarking and visit cultural/historical places;
• to gain more knowledge about library and office management system;
• to understand the implementations and functions of the system;
• to gain "Hand-On-Skills" experience in using the system;
• and to observe the latest technologies being used in the Libraries in Thailand.
  

Composed of 27 participants, they all enjoyed the experience here in Thailand.

As "The Legend in Library Equipment Supplier", Lohaprateep Industry Co., Ltd. hosted the event here in Thailand. LPI prepared a Welcome Party for all the participants at the Bayoke 1 Hotel and invited some honorable guest speakers like Dr. Maria Laosuntorn, Dr. Sujin Butdisuwan and Dr. Chutima Sachanand as well as helped arranged the trip to different libraries. The 2 days trip to different libraries and cultural/historical places was a success for both PLAI members and LPI. Everyone gained new ideas regarding library system, not to mention "Was Amazed" by the modernization of other libraries.

Seminar in Rayong (Thailand) 2007

Mobile Racking Systems (MBR)

The Mobile Racking System was designed for high-density and space conservation. Convectional fixed racks requires permanent aisles between rack and a lot of space leading a insufficient storage capability.

Mobile Racking, however, uses space much more efficiently because it puts racks together and requires an access aisle only. Several racks may share the same side aisle space.

In comparing the storage efficiency between Mobile Racking System and Conventional Fixed System, we can guarantee that Mobile Racking is capable of storing two or three times the quantity of a given commodity in the same area than the Conventional Fixed.

FIFO Racking Systems (HFR)

The best solution for the storage of products that requires perfect rotation. For smooth running, the load is transported by the use of rollers. One of the advantages that can be pointed out is that it makes the most of the available space with the minimum cost of manpower.

Mezzanine Floor are better compared to common construction requiring heavy and permanent structure.
